Phoenix is Sanctuary AI’s general-purpose humanoid robot, now in its eighth generation. It stands 170 cm, weighs 70 kg, and lifts a 25 kg payload. Phoenix’s distinguishing feature is its proprietary 20-DoF hydraulic hands with haptic feedback, which lead the industry in fine manipulation. The robot is controlled by Carbon, Sanctuary’s cognitive architecture combining symbolic reasoning, large language models, deep learning, and reinforcement learning. Sanctuary, based in Vancouver, Canada, has demonstrated Phoenix completing hundreds of customer-defined tasks across more than a dozen industries including retail, manufacturing, and logistics.
